Biography

With more than 25 years of experience in family law, I bring empathy and excellence to my cases. I started working at my law firm when I was 19 years old and attending college at Truman University. After I graduated from Truman, I attended law school at Washington University in St. Louis. I graduated in 1996, and I have been practicing family law since.

My practice focuses on family law. I strive to provide a supportive yet practical and straightforward strategy for my client's case. From your first meeting with me, I will share my extensive family law knowledge. Clients often tell me that the information I provide in my initial interview is more in depth than what they have received elsewhere.

Strong advocacy requires both reasoned negotiation and decisive litigation strategies. I vigorously advocate for my clients in both respects. While many attorneys are content to settle all of their cases, I will aggressively argue a case in court if it offers my client the best outcome. If a settlement better serves my client's interests, I help my client reach their goals and will employ creative problem solving.

My job is to guide you through what is often the most difficult experience you will face. With my considerable knowledge and experience, I develop strategies for my client's unique situation with the end goal in mind. I listen to my client's objectives and then develop a plan to achieve results and minimize the emotional and financial impact of divorce.

I advocate for my clients in many kinds of family law cases: divorce, child custody, support cases, paternity cases, modification of child custody, modification of child support, and grandparent visitation rights. I have been appointed as a Special Master in family law by the family court judges in St. Charles County. I have served as a Special Master for more than 10 years. I am a past president of the St. Charles County Bar Association.

Sometimes a family law case continues in the appellate courts. I also practice appellate law, and I have litigated many cases in the Missouri Court of Appeals and also the Missouri Supreme Court. The governor of Missouri appointed me to the Appellate Judicial Review Committee. This Committee reviews decisions of the judges in the Missouri Court of Appeals and Missouri Supreme Court and makes recommendations regarding their retention.

I understand it is never easy to deal with legal matters, especially when it involves the most important aspects of your life. That is why it is important to employ the help of a professional and experienced family law attorney who understands the necessary approaches to accomplish the best outcome for you. I am dedicated to achieving excellent results for my clients.
